October fun- Halloween

I love fall when all the leaves start changing colors.  For family home evening we decided to take a drive over North Ogden divide to see all the changes and then we stopped at liberty park to let the kids play.  They had races down the slides, played on the monkey bars, dug in the sand, played football, and all the other great stuff the kids came up with.  Afterwards we went to Grandpa Stewarts house to check up on things since he was out of town and Logan collected leaves for his leaf project at school.  It was a nice family outing!

Gotta love the hot chocolate mouth!

BLACK ISLAND FARMS:
The kids were out of school so we headed to black island farms for some fall fun.  Here is what our day entailed.
  • Fed the animals
  • played on the small and large slides endless times
  • went through the corn maze and lost our way
  • rode the animal train- it lasted maybe a minute
  • watched pig races- the kids loved that!
  • roped some bulls
  • went on a hay ride to a pumpkin field and the kids all went and chose a pumpkin to bring home with them
  • played, played, and played some more :)

The kids friends joined us (Ty and Riley)

SPOOKAPALOOZA:
Every UEA weekend the south town expo puts on a Halloween festival called spookapalooza.  We had never been before so we adventured to Salt Lake for some more fun.  This was our day.
  • They played and played on the blow up bounce houses and slides
  • had a jousting tournament
  • the boys played laser tag
  • they did an obstacle course- Wyatt and Kennady were a little nervous and scared but ended up doing the whole thing.
  • rode some motorized animals
  • Wyatt and Kennady chose face painting and Logan ended up getting a marshmallow gun
We ended up stopping at scone cutter for some dinner on the way home.  It was a long but fun day!

JUST HAVING FUN AROUND THE HOUSE:
I had gotten the Halloween costumes out to see if there were any old costumes of Logan's that Wyatt would want to be for Halloween.  We happened to come across one of dad's dance costumes (Yes DAD'S) so Logan put it on and was making fun of him.  Aaron was 8 or 9 yrs old when he wore this and danced to the song Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad boys.  I told Logan that so he went into the computer room where dad was and started singing the song and messing around.  It was pretty hilarious!

Wyatt trying on the old costumes.  He ended up loving this monkey costume and wore it around the house for a couple of days.

SCHOOL HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL:
Instead of letting the kids wear their costumes to school on Halloween, the school now does a Halloween carnival instead.  During the carnival you can walk through the library and look at all the pumpkins that the kids decorated and vote for them in different categories.  So the kids decided to paint their pumpkins that they got from black island farms to put in the library for the festival.  Kennady painted a rainbow, Wyatt didn't paint anything specific it was just a variation of lots of colors and red glitter, and Logan painted a Utah Utes logo on his.
We supported the carnival and let the kids each play a couple of games to win some prizes or more crappy candy is more like it. :)
What happened to the fun of being able to wear your costume to school during the day and doing a parade?

HALLOWEEN:
My side of the family always gets together the night before Halloween to celebrate with the cousins.  We have soup and bread sticks and Grandma hides sacks for the kids to find.  Grandma did a great job this year of filling the sacks with only a couple pieces of candy and the rest was healthier treats that the kids still enjoy.

We went to Grandma Stewarts on Halloween day for some dinner before we headed out for trick-or-treating.  She had pizza, hot chocolate, and even krispy kreme donuts.
Logan went trick-or-treating with some friends so I took Wyatt and Kennady for a little while and then we came back to the house to finish passing out the candy to the trick-or-treaters.  Wyatt and Kennady actually had more fun taking turns getting the door and telling them to pick a candy.
  • Logan was first an angry bird and then ended up being a motocross racer
  • Wyatt started out as a clone wars trooper, then went to optimus prime, almost ended up being jack sparrow, but finally decided to be an angry bird since Logan chose not to.
  • Kennady was a ninja

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
